Ref: 1108 Thrunton Lowfield Cottage
ALNWICK Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles. The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the "Harry Potter" films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline. The Property: Thrunton Lowfield Cottage Alnwick 6 miles.

Only a short drive away from the sea, as well as the market town of Alnwick, the property is an almost equal distance to The National Trust's Cragside House and Gardens to the west. | Previous Visitors' Comments | The setting was excellent- it was on a farm with fantastic views and lovely owners, what more could you ask for. It just highlighted the true beauty of Northumberland.

Aug 2008 | Beautiful location with glorious views. We all (particularly the children) loved all the animals around and waking up to swallows nesting, cows, horses and rabbits was magical! Owners were very warm and welcoming and greeted us on arrival and showed us around. We saw them several times before leaving at the end of the week.Could have happily stayed another week!
Mrs Vine, Halifax, West Yorkshire
Jul 2008 | The location was very quiet, just what I wanted. Even though on a working farm it did not detract from the peaceful rural atmosphere. I will definitely go again.
